Interlink Software Business Service Management (BSM) Solution chosen by Centrica plc

Centrica selects Interlink Software's event management, BSM and CMDB solution to further streamline IT infrastructure, applications and systems with core business processes.

Manchester, UK -- 03 June 2009 - Interlink Software, a global leader in delivering Business Service Management (BSM), today announced that Centrica plc, the parent company of British Gas has selected the Interlink Software event management, BSM and CMDB solution.

 

Interlink Software will provide Centrica with intuitive real-time and historical Business Service Dashboards, federated Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Enterprise Systems Management capabilities, delivering end-to-end visibility of business services and process flows. Windsor based Centrica supplies energy to millions of residential and commercial customers in the UK, North America and Europe. The Interlink Software BSM solution will be implemented by Centrica in a process driven IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) aligned initiative designed to further focus the operations of the IT infrastructure, applications and systems on the business priorities of the company's business units.

Centrica selected Interlink Software following an extensive evaluation process. Interlink Software's BSM solution was proven to integrate 'out-of-the box' with the existing systems and network management tools used by Centrica. This allowed Centrica to simply and clearly communicate service availability information to its IT support staff, management and client facing staff via intuitive web-based Business Service Dashboards.

 

Centrica now has plans to leverage the capabilities of the Interlink Software Service Configuration Manager (SCM) product to obtain the most complete end-to-end service view of its IT infrastructure. As Richard Huntley, Centrica's manager responsible for Enterprise Systems Management explains, BSM is all about aligning the management of technology with the business needs instead of managing IT as a collection of infrastructure components. Richard and his team plan to use this approach to improve reliability, performance and incident resolution times all ultimately contributing to Centrica's bottom line.
